1. Purpose
This policy outlines how Unmasking Minds ADHD Clinic supports individuals with learning disabilities to access, understand, and engage with our policies, procedures, and service information.
We recognise that some individuals may require additional support or alternative formats to fully understand written information. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to ensure accessibility, dignity, and informed participation in care.

This policy applies to:
All service users
Individuals with learning disabilities
Individuals with cognitive differences
Individuals with additional communication needs
Carers, advocates, and representatives acting with consent
This policy applies across all areas of service delivery, including pre-assessment, assessment, documentation, and follow-up care.
3. Our Commitment
We are committed to ensuring that:
Information about our services and policies is accessible and understandable
Individuals are supported to make informed decisions about their care
Reasonable adjustments are identified and implemented where required
No person is disadvantaged due to communication or learning needs
Accessibility is viewed as a core component of safe, person-centred care.
4. How We Support Accessibility
To support individuals with learning disabilities, we will:
Provide clear, plain-language explanations of policies and service information upon request
Offer verbal explanations during appointments or pre-assessment discussions
Break information into manageable sections
Allow additional time for understanding and processing
Encourage questions and clarification without pressure
Adapt communication style, including slower pacing or repetition
Provide alternative explanations where needed
Signpost to trusted supporters, carers, or advocates where appropriate and with consent
Adjustments are made respectfully and collaboratively.
5. Online and Digital Access
As an online-based service, we recognise that digital systems may present barriers for some individuals.
We will:
Offer support with completing digital forms
Provide guidance through online processes
Assist with accessing documents
Ensure support is delivered in a respectful and non-judgemental manner
Where digital access presents significant difficulty, alternative arrangements will be considered wherever reasonably practicable.
6. Consent and Mental Capacity
Where there are concerns about understanding or decision-making capacity, these will be addressed sensitively and in line with relevant legislation.
We will:
Support individuals to understand choices and consequences

Seek valid and informed consent
